The yearning and quest of Igede speaking people of Benue State to join a comity of people operating community radio has clicked and the premier Igede community-based private radio will soon hit the airwaves.
This follows the grant of license to operate to Engr. Morgan Okwoche by the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, NBC.
Sketchy information reaching this medium around 5pm on Friday said that the license is among a few others granted by the Federal Government to applicants.
According to the African Charter on Broadcasting, Community broadcasting is broadcast which is for, by and about the community, whose ownership and management, is representative of the community, which pursues a social development agenda, and which is non-profit.
Chief Morgan Okwoche, it would be recalled, has for long been pursuing the license to operate the community radio. Also, the present Caretaker Committee Chairman of Oju LG, Bright Ogaji, once hinted of his collaboration with Morgan and some other towards an establishment of a community radio in Igede.
We will keep you updated on the development.
