ANDYSON IJI

As part of activities to mark this year’s Igede Agba New Yam Festival, an indigenous group under the aegis of Igede Progressives Network (IPN) says it has concluded arrangements to feature a public lecture in Igede language.

Speaking to this medium on behalf of IPN, Mr. Andyson Iji explained that the group had outlined series of events aimed at boosting the tourism potential of Igede Agba Festival, some of which will kickstart with a public lecture titled: “IGEDE ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL INTEREST: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES.

The festival public lecture which is slated for September 5 will hold at SYNERGY PLACE, Ichakobe-Barracks Road, Oju LGA, Benue State, beginning from10 am, under the chairmanship of High Chief, EMMANUEL ODE OCHI, Oji Kpururu 1 of Ibilla.

The lecture specially prepared to be delivered in Igede language but with interpretation in English where necessary will draw Igede resource persons and scholars of international repute and the creme de la creme of Igede academics from home and abroad.

Mr. Iji also said the lecture is not just going to be a one-off event but simply a precursor to series of sustainable media events crafted to expose Igede culture and tourism potentials to the world.

The events and programme which are packaged as one element higher than the recent introduction of beauty pageant to the annual festival of the Igede people, is to gulp N2million, said the group.

However, Mr. Iji expressed the optimism that the group will raise more than that amount all for the development of Igedeland, and therefore urges all and sundry to turn out for the maiden edition of the lecture.
