Indications from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , show that all is not well with the Benue chapter of the party and maybe embroiled in leadership crisis.

This is even as the former State governor, Gabriel Suswam yesterday convened a stakeholders meeting aimed at repositioning the party and also filling vacant positions in the state leadership as a result of the massive drift of members to the All Progressive Congress (APC) .

The meeting which is the first of its nature since the party’s loss in the general elections was attended by the former Minister of interior, Comr. Abba Morro and other party leaders in the state.

However the meeting which was convened at the instance of Suswam was shunned by other notable leaders of the party in the state. This watchers have attributed to the current leadership crisis as to who is the leader of the party in the state.

‎The resolve to replace this leaders may not have also gone down well with some members of the party as one of his former croonies Engr. Nat Apir took to social media criticising the meeting .

According to Apir who was appointed consultant on all government projects in the previous administration, ‎the meeting was a kangaroo meeting, describing the new appointments as donations, while swearing to fight the party.

“Suswam came into Makurdi and went and organized a kangaroo PDP meeting where leadership positions where donated to people….Nat Apir is not a party to that Kangaroo and fraudulent process…Suswam good bye! Am going to work for the final burial of PDP in Benue – undertaker”. He said

Meanwhile this position may not be far from the speculation of conflict between the former governor and the party’s flag bearer in the last elections, Prince Terhemen Tarzoor emanating from the latter’s insistence that Tarzoor accepts victory after the polls.

A source confirmed that since the announcement of elections and Suswam’s subsequent flight to America, Tarzoor has built together members of the party who see him as the party’s leader in the state, even as he is not the highest political office holders from the state, since the elders of the party also believe he is still a political neophyte and not yet ready for the task of party administration.

This is not with the supporters of the former Senate President and senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Sen. David Mark, whose supporters believe should lead the party in the state owing to his position as the highest elected member of the party in the state and one who has held an office as high as the Senate President.

As a result it is rather unclear now who holds the aces in the Peoples Democratic Party as the trio are believed to claim authority.
