It was a moment of incalculable joy in Aliade today as the Sole Administrator, Gwer East Local Government Council, Comr. Benedict Achado commissioned and put to use a brand new 500KVA transformer he donated to the northern part of Aliade town which has been without light for one full year.
Performing the commissioning ceremony, Comr. Achado thanked God for enabling him to fulfill the promise he made a month ago and Gov. Samuel Ortom whose rural electrification drive he was replicating at the local government level.
The Gwer Sole Administrator who explained that light is very important to business development recounted how much residents of the area have missed by living without light for one full year.
“I know you have missed so much ever since your transformer broke down. I have bought this 500KVA transformer, which is the highest ever mounted here so that it will serve you well. It has a one year warranty and anything short of that will not be accepted” he cautioned.
Comr. Achado charged residents of the area to protect the facility in honesty, pay their light bills while warning officials of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company to avoid outrageous billing of customers to create a friendly business environment.
Responding, the JEDC Area Manager, William Ajir commended the Gwer Sole Administrator for the proactive procurement of the transformer saying he has not only helped the community to enjoy light but has also helped JEDC to boost its revenue generation.
“By installing this transformer, you have lit your community and saved our jobs too. This unit supplies power to the Aliade General Hospital, Local Government Secretariat, College of Education, Aliade, FERMA office as well as the entire local government Senior Staff Quarters. This is huge revenue to our company and we cannot thank you enough” he said.
In their separate remarks, Director, General Services and Administration(DGSA) of the local government, David Agba and Head of Works Department, Engr. David Abaa praised Comr. Achado for saving his community from total blackout saying though there was no enough money in the treasury, he had demonstrated uncommon commitment in realising the project and called on the people to support him for greater works.
Also speaking, Zaki Shija Swati on behalf of the community thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for choosing for them a responsive and responsible leader who who has come to their aid within a short notice and prayed God to bless the Sole Administrator as well as pledged the safety of the facility in his domain.
