The school feeding aspect of the Social Investments Progamme, an initiative of the Federal Government, which is meant to encourage enrolment of pupils in public primary schools will take off next week, Benue State Focal person for the programme and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Investments, Hon. Terhide Utaan has disclosed.
He made the disclosure today in his office in an interview with our correspondent.
According to Utaan, nearly all the necessary items needed for the smooth implementation of the programme have been procured and are ready for distribution to food vendors with a view to kick-starting the programme in the state.
He explained that what was delaying the commencement of the programme was resolution of Bank Verification Number (BVN), but expressed hope that all accounts of vendors would be credited in no distant time.
According to the Social Investments Programme Focal Person, all cooks have
been trained and are ready for the implementation of the programme.
Items procured include cooking ports of sizes 30 and 15, coolers also of 30 and 50 litres capacity, water drums and 20 litres capacity basin for washing of finger bowls (plates) and spatulas.
