Deputy Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Nick Eworo, has flagged off his annual undergraduate scholarship scheme for indigent students from Obi Local Government Area of the state.
The state lawmaker representing Obi state constituency kicked off the awards on Monday, July 3, in Makurdi, devoid of fanfare and ceremonies that normally associates with such events.
The scholarship awards began with a random selection of three beneficiaries from Zones A, B and C of Obi LGA.
However, certain criteria of being a less privileged and in the University, were thoroughly investigated and proven.
Presenting the cash awards in form of school fees for 2016/ 2017 academic session to the awardees, the leader charged them to take their studies seriously considering the fact that the awards covered the rest of their years in the University.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to believe in themselves despite the prevailing realities they see around.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, a potential First Class candidate amongst them and Four Hundred Level Student of the Benue State University, Makurdi, Akoko J. Smith, from Uwobe in Obi thanked Eworo and prayed God to bless him more.
Nick Eworo Educational Empowerment Initiative has, for several years now, empowered many indigent students in the Undergraduates and Postgraduate cadre.
Many notable persons including Andyson Iji Egbodo, from Obi and Oju Local Government Areas had so far benefitted.
