Alochu Foundation, a Benue State-based charity organisation has hinted of a plan to again put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged in the state.
Chief Frank Alochu Ikpobu, the President of the Non-Governmental Organisation which exists purely for the purpose of bringing succor to the widows and orphans, indigent students and youth, dropped the hint during the foundation’s board meeting over which he presided himself in Makurdi, Benue State capital, over the weekend.
Giving an insight into the plan, Chief Alochu told the Board of Directors that having successfully executed some major empowerment for poor widows in Oju and Obi LGAs of the state as well as some indigent students in form of scholarship in the foregone year, the focus of the next major empowerment would be on orphans and youths in the area before extending same succor to other parts of the state.
Going by the revealed plan, two orphans and two youths from each ward across all the council wards in Oju and Obi LGAs will be selected as beneficiaries by an independent body subject to verification by the foundation’s board of directors in a methodology that guarantees transparency, and as well ensures the foundation’s purpose of bringing succor to the abjectly poor youths and orphans is achieved.
The empowerment will hold in January 2018. However, the process of selecting the beneficiaries, according to the president, would begin soon.
Meanwhile, Chief Alochu commended the board of directors for successfully carrying out the widows’ empowerment programme and other functions in the year under review.
