Mr. Tony Iji, publisher of The Top10, said in a release that, “In line with our tradition of celebrating 10 leading lights in every sector of the society, this edition of the magazine focuses on the top 10 Nigerian oil investors driving the value chain of the downstream sector of the industry”. He said the major criteria for selection were market leadership of the operators, investment in infrastructure, as well as contribution to industry growth and economic development of Nigeria.
“It’s our considered view that the aspiration of the federal government to make petroleum products available across the country would have been a mirage without the necessary cooperation and collaboration of the downstream operators who have invested massively in all areas of the downstream operation to ensure product availability”.
He said as the primary driver of the Nigerian economy, the oil sector deserves special attention, hence the decision to celebrate investors who represent a positive force towards the actualization of the aspiration of value chain optimization through investment in the industry.
“Our intention, therefore, is to identify and celebrate the top 10 market leaders who have made the difference in the optimization of the Nigerian downstream petroleum value chain”, Iji said. “These market leaders comprise oil tycoons with huge stakes and massive investments to build enormous operating capacities in various aspects of the business, fr0m processing and storage, to distribution and sales”.
