Budding philanthropist and President, Alochu Foundation for the Less Privileged, Benue based charity organization, Chief Francis Alochu Ikpobu, has emerged the winner of Person of the Year award.

Also selected for honour as the news medium’s Benue Men of the Year are National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Amb. Dickson Akoh, insurance giant cum philanthropist, Dr. Mike Atser; Chairman of Middlebelt Traditional Council (MBTC), Lagos/South West, Chief Ochi Ode Emmanuel; Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Airforce, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu and Deputy Majority Leader, Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nick Eworo.

Others who have, by the editorial judgement of, merited the honour and were picked include Dr. Joseph Ngbea, Hon. George Ali, Hon. Peter Onche and Hon. Austine Agada.

Aside Chief Ikpobu Alochu who emerged out of public poll conducted to know who would pick the star prize: Person of the Year, the rest awardees were picked because of their outstanding selfless services first to humanity and to the state and the nation as well as for their continued services for development of our communities, in various spheres including LG administration, philanthropy, leadership, empowerment, etc, which shaped mostly the contents of our news pages in the year, 2017.

They will be honoured on January 3, 2018, at Benue Hotels, Makurdi, while brief profiles of the awardees by will be published on the site., a subsidiary of The Hawkk Newspaper, is an online news medium of high repute with a bias on Benue and regional (Middlebelt) reportage.

The medium’s team include Mr. James Ibechi (Editorial Director), Mr. Morgan Adikwu (General Editor) and Comr. Andyson Iji Egbodo (Business Develoment Manager)
