TWO FULANI HERDSMEN NABBED IN OBI FOR ALLEGEDLY VIOLATING ANTI-OPEN GRAZING LAW

As the implementation of Anti-open Grazing Law deepens in Benue State, a joint livestock and vigilante taskforce in Obi LGA has arrested two herders whose cattle allegedly destroyed farm crops in the area.

The farm crops belonged to one Mr. Ona Ibe and  another farmer, Mr. Patrick Daniel, all of Itakpa, Okpokwu Council Ward of the local government area.

The herders, Alhaji Ozoloko Azimo and Idris Ozoloko, were said to have confessed to the crime, by breaching the Anti- Open Grazing and Prohibition Law and pleaded with the farmers to accept payments for the crops they destroyed.

The Obi LGA vigilante Commandant, Mr. Ogo Philip and Mr. Utu Michael, livestock Commander who jointly carried out the arrest, firmly resolved to implement the law of the state.

Special Adviser on Security to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mike Ogaji who represented the council chairman, Hon. Peter Onche, assured  of his boss’determination to ensure compliance with the law.

The Fulani herdsmen handed over to the police for further interrogation and necessary action.
